Education
I graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a BS in Physics in 2017. I attended the honors college which accounts for less than 2% of the total student body. This fostered excellent communication and problem solving skills. I will be enrolling at the University of Delaware as a PhD student in Electrical Engineering for the Spring 2018 semester. I stayed at UCSB an extra semester as a research assistant while I was writing my undergraduate thesis in optical physics, hence the delayed start at UD. My subjects of expertise are: Math (College[C], High School[HS], Middle School[MS]) - Pre-Algebra/Algebra - Geometry - Precalculus - Single and Multi Variable(Vector) Calculus (very strong here) - Differential Equations - Linear Algebra Physics (C,HS,MS) - Newtonian Mechanics - Electricity and Magnetism - Electronics Chemistry (HS,MS)
Experience
I really enjoy helping people understand something they themselves think they will never understand. I like to teach through metaphor and by asking questions rather than just explaining the same thing over and over, since I understand that sometimes things just don't stick the first, second, or third way they are explained. I revel in turning something foreign and scary into something relatable and familiar. It's almost a challenge of my own to turn math and science into football and video game references! I have been tutoring for about 8 years now, starting in high school with about 10 long term students over the course of 3 years and informal tutoring while I was getting my undergraduate degree. Most of my students were tutored in math (algebra, geometry, and precalc), though I also had a couple students for chemistry and physics. Several former students and parents have volunteered to be references upon request; I am told I am very personable while still being effective... even with easily distracted students! I took the SAT and ACT in high school and recently took the GRE which is similar in style but more difficult than the SAT. My scores are SAT: 2170/2400 ACT: 33/36 GRE Quantitative: 162 (82nd percentile) GRE Qualitative: 161 (88th percentile)

Hobbies
When I'm not working I enjoy listening to music (I play guitar and bass) and playing video games. I also really enjoy cooking, which is great when you're living on a budget! Since my dad is from Pittsburgh, I am a big Steelers fan, but since I am from San Diego, I have a soft spot for the Los Angeles Chargers.
